Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

I'm behind in the Mortal Instruments series. I'd love to catch up and then read this new series!
The Shadowhunters of Los Angeles star in the first novel in Cassandra Clare’s newest series, The Dark Artifices, a sequel to the internationally bestselling Mortal Instruments series. Lady Midnight is a Shadowhunters novel.
It’s been five years since the events of City of Heavenly Fire that brought the Shadowhunters to the brink of oblivion. Emma Carstairs is no longer a child in mourning, but a young woman bent on discovering what killed her parents and avenging her losses.
Together with her parabatai Julian Blackthorn, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches across Los Angeles, from the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica. If only her heart didn’t lead her in treacherous directions…
Making things even more complicated, Julian’s brother Mark—who was captured by the faeries five years ago—has been returned as a bargaining chip. The faeries are desperate to find out who is murdering their kind—and they need the Shadowhunters’ help to do it. But time works differently in faerie, so Mark has barely aged and doesn’t recognize his family. Can he ever truly return to them? Will the faeries really allow it?
Glitz, glamours, and Shadowhunters abound in this heartrending opening to Cassandra Clare’s Dark Artifices series.

I hadn't heard of this series before but it sounds interesting. I'll have to keep an eye out.
ReplyDeleteI lost steam in the last few Mortal Instrument books, which made me a bit weary of picking this one up. I hope this one is much better.
ReplyDeleteI still need to finish TMI but it's on my list for this year! Great pick
ReplyDeleteThis sounds amazing! Definitely adding to my TBR!

I am super excited for this one! I loved the Mortal Instruments and hope this series will be just as good. My WoW
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm waiting for this book as well! In COHF, we don't see as much of Emma and Julien, and I wonder what their lives are like. Can't wait!

I have to say, I've had Lady Midnight on pre-order for a couple of weeks now. I just hope all of this legal stuff with Cassandra Clare that's going on doesn't affect the release date after I've already invested myself in certain characters that have appeared in CoHF and will take center stage in this book.

ReplyDeleteHaven't read her yet, and may not ever get to it as there's a million books I want to read!! Hope you like it.
