Welcome to the Feature & Follow
Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.
The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!
How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!
What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and ayou must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.
We pick our featured blogs randomly each week from the blogs who participated the week before.
Please be sure to feature your e-mail address clearly on your blog. Either on the main blog, on a Contact page, or on an About Me page. If I can't find your email easily, I will choose a different blog to feature.
Our Feature - Laura's Bunny Tales
1. When did you start blogging?
In Sept of 09. WOW! that's forever ago! It was in response to a reading challenge I'd found posted on a blog I'd stumbled on called Callapidder Days.
2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?
Having a finger on the thrumming pulse of what's going on in world of books. What's hot, who's the up and comers, how excited are people about reading... When discussions pop up about 'the book' being dead, I can say emphatically... NUH UH!!
3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?
I do a lot of mainstream literary, but I read all over the spectrum. I'm a multi-booker and I try to have a fiction, a non-fiction, and a spiritual book going all together. You'll also see on my blog that I'm a HUGE fan & collector of Stephen King books, so there's my not-guilty pleasure!
4. What are your favorite books?
Any genre, any voice, any setting if it has great, tight writing, believable characters that move me, and when I'm done I still feel it. That being said, The Dark Tower Series - Stephen King's Magnum Opus and The Fault In Our Stars by John Green as well as The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway are books that sit prominently on my 'special' books shelf.
5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
Book blogging has actually done SO much for me over the years. I've connected with authors, I've learned of the passion so many other people have for reading and books... but more than that... I've connected with other bloggers! And while we've never gotten to meet face to face, over the years they have seen me through some joys and carried me through some very rough times. I'm very blessed you guys are all out there!!
Question of the Week: What is the first book you remember reading? - Suggested by Bookish Findings.
As far as a book that I read to myself, I don't exactly remember. I recall reading Boxcar Children very early on. Also, this little series about a Scout trip - it wasn't Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts but a made-up off shoot. Like Pee Wee Scouts or something. I particularly remember a book with a disastrous kitchen scene where a little girl tried to make chocolate chip cookies and used browning sauce, because she thought the dough was too light colored. The first books I fell in love with were definitely the Babysitter's Club. I read my first BSC book in second grade, when I borrowed it from my friend. It was #17 - Mary Anne's Bad Luck Mystery. I became obsessed immediately and read every book over and over. That's what truly got me into reading.
