Feature and Follow Friday #258

Welcome to the Feature & Follow

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and ayou must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.

How To Become a Featured Blog?

We pick our featured blogs randomly each week from the blogs who participated the week before.

Please be sure to feature your e-mail address clearly on your blog. Either on the main blog, on a Contact page, or on an About Me page. If I can't find your email easily, I will choose a different blog to feature.

Our Feature - The Readdicts

1. When did you start blogging?

Janhvi: We started blogging in August 2012. We are going to be celebrating our 3 year Blogoversary soon. Can't believe it's been 3 years already!

Sarika: Janhvi and I started blogging in 2012, so we’ve been blogging for nearly three years.

2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?

Janhvi: Meeting other bloggers and finding out new books is the most exciting part. I love that we can share our love for books through blogging.

Sarika: My most favourite part about book blogging is definitely ranting about books. Whether it is writing reviews, pretending a book character is real, getting recommendations from other readers, recommending books to others, drooling over book pictures, endlessly stalking authors… It is so much fun. Also, I’ve met some really spectacular people because of blogging, and I feel proud to call them my friends.

3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?

Janhvi: Well, Sarika and I have pretty different reading tastes so I'd say we are pretty diverse in our reviews. I love reading any and all kinds of romances with a dash of young adult.

Sarika: Even though I love to read anything and everything, I find myself mostly drawn to contemporary realistic fiction and LGBT reads, so I try to include them in my reading, and hence, blogging list. Having done my Masters in French literature, I also make sure to share some of French marvels that I come across.

4. What are your favorite books?

Janhvi: The Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh, The Lucky Harbor series by Jill Shalvis, F.B.I/U.S.Attorney series by Julie James, The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay, I'll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios..this list can go on and on..

Sarika: That’s a very tough one! Some of my favourites are: the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, The Stranger by Albert Camus, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan, Made of Stars by Kelley York and many, many more.

5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

Janhvi: Meeting new people is very cool. We also love reading all the comments people post on our blog. Getting to read arcs is also a pretty sweet deal.

Sarika: That would definitely be the fact that I can freely and easily spread my love for books and it has definitely got Janhvi and I closer. Getting to know authors and fellow readers is an added bonus.

Question of the Week: If you were to get a tattoo, what would it say or what would the graphic be? Or if you have a tattoo, share a picture and its meaning. - Suggested by Second Run Reviews.

Definitely the Deathly Hallows symbol. I'm trying to think of a quote, but I don't know of anything that means enough to me to get it tattooed on me. I can't ever imagine getting a tattoo though. I'm too risk-averse. What if I somehow come to hate Harry Potter in 20 years. Then I'm stuck with the Deathly Hallows symbol. Not that I think that's likely or that I couldn't get it lasered off, but still.

How about you?

Now for the Follow Fun!

With GFC going the way of the dodo bird for many bloggers, there is no better time to start following blogs via RSS feed. If you use a reader, it would be great if you followed my RSS directly.

To join the fun and make new book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:
  1. (Required) Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Hosts {Parajunkee & Alison Can Read}
  2. (Required) Follow our Featured Bloggers
  3. Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say "hi" in your comments and that they are now following you.
  5. If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn't have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed
  6. Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "HI"
  7. If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love...and the followers
  8. If you're new to the Follow Friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!

Next Week's Question:

Is there a book that you were required to read in school that you actually loved? - Suggested by Natalie Hearts Books.

  3. Hm, I think you may have a problem with your linky blog? Anyhoo, I LOVe the idea of the Deathly Hallows Symbol. It made me think of Harry's Patronus as well, but a smaller version! Here's mine: http://editingeverything.com/blog/2015/06/19/feature-and-follow-friday-7-what-does-it-all-mean/

  4. I can't think of anything that I'd have as a tattoo so I've chosen none. The Deathly Hallows symbol is a good one.
    Have a great weekend.

  5. That would definitely be cool! Don't know if it's ever possible to love Harry Potter and then hate it! Though do understand regretting tattoos! My sister regrets some of hers. Word of advice, don't believe those creams can remove a tattoo over time! According to her, they don't! LOL!

  8. Hi Alison happy Friday. Getting a tattoo is a permanent thing so I'm not sure what I would get. Hope you have a great weekend!!

  9. I couldn't commit. BUT if I could commit to a tattoo I would get my favorite quote about books (how a reader lives many lives while those who don't read live just one life) or an infinity symbol, but for the infinity symbol I would need a special story or memory behind it.

  10. I think I'm a bit similar to you as well. There are a lot of designs that are pretty but I'm never attached to any of them so much that I want it permanently attached onto my body. Deathly hallows is a nice idea though :) you should think about it a bit more. Have a nice weekend,
