Welcome to the Feature & Follow
Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.
The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!
How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!
What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and ayou must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.
We pick our featured blogs randomly each week from the blogs who participated the week before.
Please be sure to feature your e-mail address clearly on your blog. Either on the main blog, on a Contact page, or on an About Me page. If I can't find your email easily, I will choose a different blog to feature.
Our Feature - Bookworm Book Reviews
1. When did you start blogging?
I started blogging in August of last year. I've loved reading all my life and I tend to devour one book after another. While that's enjoyable, I never took the time to really process the books I read. I would find that, except for the occasional stand out book, I was forgetting what I had read about and even whether I liked certain books or not. So, as a way to force myself to slow down and think, and as a way to get more involved with other bookish people, I decided to start my blog. I'm so glad I did, it's been so fun!
2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?
There are so many things! I think I would have to say the interaction between bloggers. It's so much fun to read about the books other bloggers have enjoyed and the books they are looking forward to that haven't been released yet. I thought I had a problem with my TBR list before I started blogging, but that was nothing compared to my list now! I also love getting comments and commenting on other bloggers' posts. It's just so nice to be able to talk about books with people. No one in my family reads the same books I do, so it's always enjoyable to talk to someone who does like those books.
3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?
I mainly blog about YA books. I didn't really intend for that to happen, I thought I would have more of a mix than that, but the YA books are just so good, I can't stay away. I like a lot of different genres, so I do also have some PNR, NA, and mystery/ suspense thrown in there as well, but it is mostly YA. I try to read what I want to. I don't like feeling pressured to read something that I'm not all that interested in, so all of my books are either bought or have been requested through Netgalley. I feel like blogging stays fun that way. 4. What are your favorite books?
My favorite book of all time is Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier. I love Gothic novels, and as soon as I read Rebecca, it replaced my former favorite, Jane Eyre. I'm not usually much into the classics, but I really love a good Gothic romance. I just wish they weren't so hard to find.
4. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
I would have to say getting mentioned or direct messaged on twitter by authors has been the best thing. I love getting a tweet back from an author, after I've reviewed their book(s), thanking me and telling me they are happy I enjoyed it. It just makes my day. :-)
Question of the Week: Your house is burning down and you have time to select three books you own to take with you. What three books? - Suggested by Alison Can Read.
1. One of my Harry Potter novels. Specifically one of the British covers, since those are harder to get. Probably Prisoner of Azkaban since it's my favorite book in the series.
2. The Giver. Here's another difficult choice. I have two copies of this book. The original copy that I bought in 8th grade and have read dozens of times. Or the copy autographed by Lois Lowry that I got at BEA last summer. I think I'd actually choose the original, cheap paperback, falling apart copy, because it has more nostalgia.
3. Not exactly a book. For years, I recorded every book I read in a journal. The title, author, and a starred rating. I haven't kept up with it in the last few years since I rely on Goodreads so much, but I think I'd take that old book journal.
How about you?
Now for the Follow Fun!

I don't have physical copies of Harry Potter yet. But if I have them, I'll probably save them as well. :) I've been wanting to have my book journal for a while now. I think I need to get to it soon. :)
ReplyDeleteThis question breaks my soul! How can I love all my other books behind! I guess this question have me prepared in case the worst happen. xD
ReplyDeleteAzee @ UnderCover Critique
Great answer on your journal. You wouldn't want to leave something like that behind.
ReplyDeleteI shudder to think of such a situation... I would be lost if I am asked to choose between my beloved books..:(
ReplyDeleteGreat answer about taking your journal. Would definitely take that with me. :)

I just started recording all the books that I'm currently reading, but it's hard to keeping track of the books on paper since I also rely on Goodreads a lot. :)

Congrats for the feature! I couldn't decide so all my books are on fire, I wanted to save all !
ReplyDeleteOld follower, my FF:
Silvy @Books are my life
Love your choice of your book journal. I keep one as well but I didn't quite think of it when you made me pick three books to save XD haha, though if given a choice between my book journal and my Chinese HP books, I probably will still pick Harry Potter. :D
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!

Obsessive Compulsive Reader
Such a tough question for a first timer like me, lol. Great choices, by the way! I love the journal idea. I've got one but it's not exactly a journal. Just notes where I scribble some thoughts before I officially write my reviews.

Blessie @ Mischievous Reads
The house is on fire not really gonna think about books :)
ReplyDeleteI'm grabbing my tablet, my photo books and the signed books. I don't really have a favorite book I can't live without.

Oh! My book journals! Y'know what, I'm just gonna buy a fireproof safe just for them. They'll be fine.
ReplyDeleteI forgot, Here's my Follow Friday!
DeleteI used to have a journal where I recorded what I read, too. Unfortunately, I got rid of it years ago when I started using Goodreads.
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time participating in this blog hop. My answer to the question is here: http://ajsterkel.blogspot.com/
Aj @ Read All The Things!
If I grabbed anything it would be my journals over actual books. They're so important to me.

I record my books the same way, except I use a ledger. I would definitely make sure to take it with me.
ReplyDeleteOld follower.

I only have two physic books of Harry Potter series and they definitely would be my first to be save. It's so awesome you have a review journal.

So it was you who thought of this question! Didn't get that from Parajunkee when I got the question last week! Truly evil Alison! ;)
ReplyDeleteBut made me think and of course the three I pick are ones buried in my closet shelf. So I'll be breaking my window open and (gently) tossing out all my books so I can get to these 3! ;) LOL
Here's my Follow Friday
Have a GREAT day!

I would save the fantasy books I inherited from my mother, including Lord of the Rings. Oh, and Vicarious Caytastrophe is me brand new blog!

ReplyDeleteOoh that book journal is a great idea! I'd save that too. :D Happy Friday! My FF
ReplyDeleteI love the topic for this week's F&FF, especially since I've been in this situation before. Sadly I didn't grab any books! lol. I absolutely love the Journal idea, that's definitely something I would've grabbed with no hesitation! Here's My FF
ReplyDeleteRebecca is such a great book! My copy is practically falling apart. I would save my Divergent trilogy, but your post also reminded me about Rebecca and I have just remembered my copy of The Outsiders so I'm torn. The thing is I could always buy my favorite books again, but if I must choose...the Divergent trilogy.
