Welcome to the Feature & Follow
Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.
The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!
How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!
What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and ayou must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.
We pick our featured blogs randomly each week from the blogs who participated the week before.
Please be sure to feature your e-mail address clearly on your blog. Either on the main blog, on a Contact page, or on an About Me page. If I can't find your email easily, I will choose a different blog to feature.
Our Feature - Something to Browse
1. When did you start blogging?
I started my blogging adventures in May 2013.
2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?
My favorite part of book blogging is being able to share my love for books with people from all over the world. I love hearing that a book I recommended ended up on a book blogger's TBR pile. I love fangirling over Emperor Kai with my fellow bookish friends. I don't have a lot of bookish friends in my daily life nowadays (we all got separated when high school ended), so it's nice to be able to talk about my favorite books with people that actually know the blissful feeling you get when you read a great book.
3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?
ALL THE BOOKS! I mainly blog about YA books, but I also read a lot of historical fiction. I appreciate all the genres for what they are, but I mostly flock to romance books. I'm also a big hoarder for books that have the I-hated-you-but-now-I-love-you trope. I don't think I have to explain what that means :)
4. What are your favorite books?
I love ALL the books in The Lunar Chronicles series. I also love Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion. I'm a big fan of re-tellings, so I think it wouldn't be fair to mention Prom and Prejudice by Elizabeth Eulberg in this list. It's a modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice. Loved it!
5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
The best thing that has happened....Let's see...When I just started out. I was part of a Re-Readathon for Scarlet by Marissa Meyer. The host was the lovely Ttnene Michele from NeverEndingStories. There was this big giveaway for Cress (that wasn't out yet at the time), but there were other prizes (20 prizes!!!) as well with swag bags and after the giveaway I remembered I already had a blog that I made in 2013! *facepalm* Anyways, let's get to the amazing part! I met so many blogging friends that I still keep up with. In fact, one of them made my blog button for me! *waves at Olivia* and Kym, who is an awesome designer made a banner with all our twitter names on them. We had friendly wars over which guy in The Lunar Chronicles was the best. Then, Marissa Meyer (the lovely author) joined in on our shenanigans via twitter and I guess the experience at the time was surreal for me. I had a blast! It was so much fun that I decided there was no way I would ever forget about my blog again! Plus, I did end up winning a copy of Cress, so yay!!!
Question of the Week: Before blogging (dark times people!) how would you find out about new books or did you? - Suggested by A Great Read
*First thing: A reminder that if you want to be chosen as the Feature for #FF, please have your email address somewhere on your blog. I know there are other ways to contact people including Twitter and contact forms, but I've set up my #FF system in such a way that I need an email address. So for better or worse, that's the requirement for now.
I started blogging four years ago, but it feels like much longer. I can hardly remember my pre-blogging life. I found a lot of books by browsing at the bookstore or the library. I also got a lot of good recommendations from NPR. I got some recommendations from friends, but mostly we didn't like reading the same kinds of books

Now for the Follow Fun!
With GFC going the way of the dodo bird for many bloggers, there is no better time to start following blogs via RSS feed. If you use a reader, it would be great if you followed my RSS directly. We have a new button, so update your blogs if you are used to doing this meme!

ReplyDeleteTrish - my ff
Yeah my friends and I had totally different taste, so I never relied on them for rec's. It was mostly just strolling the shelves looking for something that sounded interesting. That and Amazon!

Libraries and bookstores are of course a great place to find books. I've always wanted to try that, but I feel like I might get overwhelmed at all the options, especially since I'm indecisive about a lot of things haha.
