Feature and Follow Friday #181

Welcome to the Feature & Follow

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.

How To Become a Featured Blog?

We pick our featured blogs randomly each week from the blogs who participated the week before.

Please be sure to feature your e-mail address clearly on your blog. Either on the main blog, on a Contact page, or on an About Me page. If I can't find your email easily, I will choose a different blog to feature.

Our Feature - Magic of Words

1. When did you start blogging?

Hi everyone! I'm Amie from Magic Of Words I started book blogging back in April 2012 but it was set private until April 2013. I was shy and didn't have much time to participate in the book blogging community so I kept the blog personal.

2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?

My favorite part of book blogging would probably being a part of this wonderful community. I love getting to meet/connect with my favorite authors, to make new friends who share the same interests as me and to talk to publishers :)

What type of books do you mainly blog about?

I read and review mostly YA books and occasionally some Middle Grade/New Adult books.

4. What are your favorite books?

Ooh this is a hard one since there are so many. I think I'd have to go with my current favs which are These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner, Where the Stars Still Shine by Trish Doller and Just One Day by Gayle Forman.

5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

First of all, it gave me the courage to interact with my favorite authors (when they tweet me, I swear I thought my heart just stopped). Second I'm super thrilled every time I see someone actually read my post and comment on it. Third when people ask me for book recommendation, I don't know but I feel really happy about that =D.

Question of the Week: Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! What books did Santa stuff your stocking with this holiday season? Do a holiday book haul for us! If you don’t celebrate just show off your books that you got this week. Pictures!!!

photo sparkles effect

I only got one book this year - a mystery set in New Mexico from my aunt and uncle. I usually don't get books from people since they don't know what to get for me and I buy/borrow whatever I want myself. But I do love giving books. My parents and I share a Nook account, which means that I buy books for them that I think we'd all like. This year, I got them The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion, You Are One of Them by Elliott Holt, The Cold Cold Ground by Adrian McKinty, and Longbourn by Jo Baker. I may get them a few more of the books on my TBR list. Oddly for me, I have no plans to buy them any YA books. I've already passed on all the YA books I read lately that I think they'd enjoy.

Now for the Follow Fun!

With GFC going the way of the dodo bird for many bloggers, there is no better time to start following blogs via RSS feed. If you use a reader, it would be great if you followed my RSS directly.

  6. Nice! I think that's why most of us didn't get books. Since we read so much our family doesn't know what to buy. I saved some Dec. releases for my family to buy me this year. So I got lucky!

    Here's my Follow Friday

    Have a GREAT day!

  7. That's pretty cool that you share a Nook account with family. I doubt anyone would be interested in the books I read in my family, lol. Have a great week. My FF

    1. I'm training for one in Sept. It's my first as well! I'd love for a pair of running shoes to show up under the tree....something not everyone wishes for haha

  10. I share a Kindle account with my parents as well. And my friends have my information (don't know how good of a choice that is haha) so that they can read what I've purchased on iCloud. It comes in handy to share! My Christmas is postponed until Saturday, but I'm hoping the one book I suggestively threw out to my mom ends up in my hands tomorrow ;-)

  13. Whoa! What a coincidence that you mention the Cold Cold Ground. I was listening to NPR on my way to work this morning, and one of the guests on the show was a librarian. She was recommending books, and the Cold Cold Ground was one of them. Maybe this is a sign that I should read it!
