Welcome to the Feature & Follow
Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.
The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!
How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!
What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.
How To Become a Featured Blog?
We pick our featured blogs randomly each week from the blogs who participated the week before. Please be sure to feature your e-mail address clearly on your blog. Either on the main blog, on a Contact page, or on an About Me page. If I can't find your email easily, I will choose a different blog to feature.
Our Feature - Tsuki's Books
1. When did you start blogging?
I started blogging last year in August but I really became a daily blogger with my blogging resolutions for 2013. It took me a few months to get to a true daily posting but now I'm going strong.
2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?
It is so difficult to just pick one favorite part. I love connecting with the community especially those people who introduce me to new things by sending me to their "Stacking the Shelves" or "Top Ten Tuesdays". I love talking to people about books and since I'm mostly a romance reviewer, it is sometimes difficult to find people who read a lot in that genre. I love recommendations, tweets, and facebook messages so I can talk about what I love and get new ideas and books to read.
Secondarily, I love getting comments on my reviews on Goodreads because they often offer a new perspective on the book for me.
3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?
I review mostly romance novels. My main focus is Contemporary, Paranormal, Erotic, and the occasional YA. Romance is an intimate experience and I love the tangle of emotion that accompanies each page. Sometimes I cover a mystery or fantasy novel when it comes from an author I've followed for years OR an author that sounds interesting. I'm pretty open but I've found my love of romance shapes what I read.
4. What is your favorite book(s)?
I have so many favorites and it is just so hard to choose! I'll pick my top five real quick just because it is so hard to choose. I always love re-reading "I Capture the Castle" by Dodie Smith, "The Harry Potter Series" by J.K. Rowling, "The Witness" by Nora Roberts, "Bitten" by Kelley Armstrong, and "A Discovery of Witches" by Deborah Harkness. All of these are re-read constantly when I need to get out of a book funk.
5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
I would love to say something super profound here but I have to be honest. My favorite moment happened a few weeks ago when I got an email from author Olivia Gates. She wrote one of my favorite romances and she commented on my review on Goodreads. It was just amazing to hear from an author whose book I bought in the store. It's unbelievable to make these connections with people I would never have the chance to speak to otherwise.
Q: Activity: Favorite Literary Quote
So many! Let's see:
Pride and Prejudice:
“In vain have I struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.”
“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.”
Vampire Academy:
[Dimitri]: "No. If I let myself love you, I won't throw myself in front of her. I'll throw myself in front of you."
The Fault In Our Stars:
"According to Maslow, I was stuck on the second level of the pyramid, unable to feel secure in my health and therefore unable to reach for love and respect and art and whatever else, which is, of course, utter horseshit: The urge to make art or contemplate philosophy does not go away when you are sick. Those urges just become transfigured by illness."
“Without pain, how could we know joy?' This is an old argument in the field of thinking about suffering and its stupidity and lack of sophistication could be plumbed for centuries but suffice it to say that the existence of broccoli does not, in any way, affect the taste of chocolate.”
Harry Potter (you knew I was going to mention HP...):
“Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears. "After all this time?" "Always," said Snape.”
“If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.”
“Death's got an Invisibility Cloak?" Harry interrupted again. "So he can sneak up on people," said Ron. "Sometimes he gets bored of running at them, flapping his arms and shrieking...”
