Welcome to the Feature & Follow
Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.
The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!
How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!
What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.
How To Become a Featured Blog?
We pick our featured blogs randomly each week from the blogs who participated the week before. Please be sure to feature your e-mail address clearly on your blog. Either on the main blog, on a Contact page, or on an About Me page. If I can't find your email easily, I will choose a different blog to feature.
Our Feature - Counting In Bookcases
1. When did you start blogging?
I started blogging on January 3rd 2013. I thought I was totally prepared... Hehe.
2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?
My favorite part of book blogging? Well, I love receiving comments on my posts and learning about epic new reads through my blogger friends. (Also, it gives me something to do other than go over my last ballet exercise or hunt on Amazon and Goodreads for hours on end. Which, actually, I still do...)
3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?
I mainly blog about YA. I am a teen, so adult doesn't appeal to me much yet. Plus, the YA genre is so unique and vast... And can be fun, heartbreaking, pure awesomeness, clever etc.
4. What is your favorite book(s)?
Favorite Books? Well, I love all books by Jennifer L Armentrout, Robin Benway, Cassandra Clare, and Richelle Mead. And recently I just finished Crewel, The Selection, and The Elite which were all totally keepers!
5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
I can't choose! Book blogging has been such loads of fun! I want to keep CIB up for a long time so all these good things keep happening! Okay, best thing that has happened? Maybe when I was so nervous about starting these posts I call Newbie Blogger Diaries, and then started to get awesomely positive response from my readers. My readers are awesome! Or when I first was contacted by an author... Or when I started finding all these cool blogs after starting Counting in Bookcases...
Q: Happy Mother's Day! Who is your favorite mom from fiction?
This is a hard one. I usually don't pay that much attention to mothers (or fathers) in books. Well, starting with my favorite Harry Potter, it's hard to beat Mrs. Weasley.
Mrs. Bennet from Pride & Prejudice is a fabulous character although she's really a pretty bad mother.
I do think that Lindsey Leavitt's books showcase strong relationships between mother and daughter, even if they're not always perfect. Her books include the Princess for Hire series, Sean Griswold's Head, and Going Vintage.
Also, who doesn't love Marilla in Anne of Green Gables?
Now for the Follow Fun!
With GFC going the way of the dodo bird for many bloggers, there is no better time to start following blogs via RSS feed. If you use a reader, it would be great if you followed my RSS directly. We have a new button, so update your blogs if you are used to doing this meme!

Like you, I don't pay attention to parents in books so I have no answer for this week's question =/

Hopping through. Mrs. Weasley was my choice too :) Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteTraci @ Mad Hatter Reads
Mrs. Weasley made my list, too. I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of her today. :D
ReplyDeleteMy FF
I've only seen the Harry Potter movies (I know, I know!), but Mrs. Weasley is definitely a sweet Mom!
ReplyDeleteStephanie (Go Flash Go) @ Read, Rinse, Repeat
Hah, I've only seen the movies as well. Don't worry, you're not alone!

I'm new to the list, so I'd love it if you checked out my blog feedyourfictionaddiction.blogspot.com! I chose Mrs. Weasley as my favorite mom and then came back here and saw that you had too! I guess great minds think alike!
ReplyDeleteHah! This is my first time signing up. When I saw the list it was at 20, but when I posted and entered I became 29. Must be faster next time! :P
ReplyDeleteYes, Mrs. Weasley was an amazing mother, so glad you picked her!

I love Mrs. Weasely. She's such a sweetie with a big, big heart. I haven't read anything by Lindsey Leavitt, but I like the idea of mother/daughter relationships being showcased. That doesn't happen very often in YA.
ReplyDeleteMolly Weasley is one of my favorite adults in fiction :D She is so great! She got an honorable mention from me, but I did go with someone else. Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.
ReplyDeleteYou've listed some pretty good choices there. I also like Molly Weasley. She's great!
ReplyDeleteMarilyn @ Marilyn's Mystery Blog
Mrs. Weasley is the best! I really love her in the series :)

Jackie @Jackie's Book World
I love your choices of Mrs. Bennet and Marilla. They are two of my favorites. But I am sad to say that I didn't like Mrs. Weasley at all until she offed Bellatrix. I have a feeling that I am a bit of an odd duck with that one :)
ReplyDeleteMy FF
I also picked mrs. weasley. She's so loving and understanding and funny :) I can see why Harry would love to perpetually live with them!
ReplyDeleteHad to go with Mrs. Weasley as well! She was just awesome!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Follow Friday
Have a GREAT weekend!

I don't pay too much attention to mothers in books but the one that immediately comes to mind is Mrs. Dashwood from Sense and Sensibility. She was a good mother, even if she wasn't always realistic.

Ooooh that's a really good question, actually. My favourite mom in literary fiction? Well, obviously that's Mrs. Weasley...it just doesn't get any better than her!
ReplyDeleteHello, this is my first time doing this blog hop. I hope you can check it out! And of course, I'll follow everyone back.

Who doesn't love Mrs. Weasley? Old follower : )
ReplyDeleteCeCe @ Steaming Mug of Books

I haven't read Lindsy's books- sound interesting. I'll have to check them out. I don't read much where mom's are a good part of the story.

Mrs. Weasley is definitely a great mother! She's always so caring towards everyone! I also really liked Nathalie Prior, Beatrice Prior's mom in Divergent :)
ReplyDeleteMy fave mom in fiction is the mom in the Chronicles Of Nick series by Sherrilyn Kenyon! Have a great weekend Alison!
ReplyDeleteGreat FF! :D

It's so hard to find good moms in YA lit, yours is a great choice! And I agree with Savannah Bookswithbite - Cherise from CON is great as well!
ReplyDeleteReading Lark After Dark's Feature Follow & Book Blogger Hop (18+ Book Blog)
Yeah, Mrs. Weasley is the best. I chose Mrs. Weasley for my answer, but I almost chose Mrs. Bennet. I mean, I am soooo glad she isn't my mom, or that my mom isn't like Mrs. Bennet. But I do think she wants what is best for her daughers (well, what she thinks is best for them). And without, P&P would not be as wonderful
ReplyDeleteMolly came to my mind first too. And, I would've put Mrs. Bennet except she irritates me to NO END, lol. Like you said, she's an interesting character, but I can't imagine ever putting her on my favorite list unless it's "favorite villains," lol. And, I do like Marilla but I've only been familiar with her through the movies not the books.
ReplyDeleteGood choice. I like Mrs. Weasley as well. Thanks for stopping by. Hope you have a fantastic weekend.
ReplyDeleteYou can never go wrong with Mrs. Weasley! I haven't read any of Leavitt's books, but they sound interesting. I love that you mentioned Mrs. Bennet too...not a fabulous mother, but a great character! Old follower.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
I chose Mrs. Weasley, too. She came instantly to mind, and she's such an awesome mom!

Mrs. Weasley is a popular choice today :-) I love her too though. Old follower stopping by.
ReplyDeleteChelsea @ Starbucks & Books Obsession
Mrs. Weasley got a lot of love, hehe.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, hope you'll have a great weekend!
Just joined! This is my first week. :) I chose Natalie Prior from Divergent. Although Mrs. Weasley is hands down the best book mom ever.
ReplyDeleteSabrina @iheartyafiction
It has been a lot time since I read that book! I am an old follower. Thanks for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteBrittany @ Spare Time Book blog
I am a new blogger (started last month) and brand new with F&F. I too chose Molly Weasley from HP, but also Lily Potter (dying to save your child? that's the ultimate motherly love) and Marmee from Little Women.
