Welcome to the Feature & Follow
Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.
The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!
How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!
What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.
How To Become a Featured Blog?
We pick our featured blogs randomly each week from the blogs who participated the week before. Please be sure to feature your e-mail address clearly on your blog. Either on the main blog, on a Contact page, or on an About Me page. If I can't find your email easily, I will choose a different blog to feature.
Our Feature -Kinx's Book Nook
1. When did you start blogging?
May 2012
2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?
For me, writing a great review for a wonderful book and sharing it with my fellow book lovers. I really love getting comments that people liked my review and are now putting that book on the TBR list.
3. What is your favorite book(s)?
Persuasion by Jane Austen
Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling
A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
4. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
I would have to say meeting some amazing people in the book community. I’ve met authors and fellow bloggers that have introduced to me books that I would never have considered reading. I really love the independent authors and helping them promote their books. Everyone is so supportive. I have yet to encounter any nasty bullies or negative feedback. It’s all been a wonderful experience so far!
Q: When you step out of your USUAL genre what do you like to read? Best books in that genre?
I don't have a single USUAL genre. My genres of choice are contemporary fiction, historical fiction, paranormal romance, and high fantasy. As well as non-fiction. Harry Potter and Twilight were my first forees out of realistic fiction. Now, I read across a lot of genres.
The only genres I don't like much are mysteries and sci fi. It's rare that I will read or like a book in those genres, although it happens. I suppose the closest I come to stepping out of my genre is reading adult fiction, since I mostly read young adult fiction. But I've always read adult fiction so it's not exactly stepping out. How's that for a rambly answer?
Now for the Follow Fun!
With GFC going the way of the dodo bird for many bloggers, there is no better time to start following blogs via RSS feed. If you use a reader, it would be great if you followed my RSS directly. We have a new button, so update your blogs if you are used to doing this meme!

Happy Follow Friday! Come back at midnight CST for the Facebook & Twitter hop!!
Rambly is good! You go with your rambly self! ;)
ReplyDeleteI got a little rambly myself this week, though that's not really anything new.
Happy Friday!
PS. you may want to change the linky list, my sweet, you have me listed as the feature this week =D
DeletePPS. Sorry about all of the confusion! =D
DeleteI went with adult fiction as my choice too! :) Interesting how some "adults" (I guess I am one) don't really find adult fiction all that appealing.
ReplyDeleteHi Alison! I'm so completely new with the feature and follow :) I'm looking forward to meeting new people though!

Evening Alison! Old follower here...My favorite genre' is mystery/suspense. So when I step outside my genre, I am free to read romance, YA, women's fiction and Christian! I actually love it all!! Thank God for authors!
ReplyDeleteBeth at bethartfromtheheart.blogspot.com
I like your rambly answer. :-) Great genres! Broad enough to camp out. Fun to visit. Have an awesome Friday!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely detest mystery and science fiction. I get yelled at for not being willing to read it but it bores me to tears. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteMy FF
Happy Friday!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy usual genre is Paranormal! A year ago you would have had to force me to read a Contemporary book. Now, I'm all addicted. Meaning, sometimes it's good to step out of your usual genere and maybe you find something you really like?
That is, if you have a preferred genre:))
Good answer! A few of my favourite books are adult fiction, though I agree with you, I'm more on the YA side. Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteOld follower!
My FF
Ooh that's nice! Me I am all about paranormal! Even my dystopian and steampunk choices tend to have paranormal elements going on!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Follow Friday
Have a GREAT weekend!
Old Follower :)
I don't like horror (except for The Mostrumologist!) I read mostly YA nowadays, but I keep an open mind :)
ReplyDeleteI should read more adult fiction but I find myself drawn more and more in to YA lately!
ReplyDeletehttp://picturemereading.wordpress.com/2012/10/19/meme-stepping-out-of-you-usual-genre/
I've really got into the sci-fi genre this year and love it! I've also found myself reading a lot of YA and should really try and read some of my adult fantasy, sci-fi and historical fiction books instead of buying loads of new YA books (but new books = :))))
ReplyDeleteOld follower!
Becca @ Lost in Thought

Thanks for stopping by my FF! Great answer! I usually avoid sci-fi too, but have come across a few good ones lately. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeletelol, you're answer's not rambly at all! I've always read a variety of genre's, just to keep up my interest, and to keep things fresh :) There are also so many categories that could be considered genres these days, and also a lot of books don't just fit one specific genre, so you have to factor in that as well, haha! Thanks for hopping by!
ReplyDelete-Novel Reveries
I'm actually the same. I don't read mysteries really or Scifi. Those just aren't my thing. :)
ReplyDeleteLoved your answer. I feel the same way. Especially on the sci-fi and mysteries, not a huge fan of those. Not a huge fan on romance novels either...that section in the book stores scare me haha.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by, 8) Happy Reading 8)
I am reading across most genres, as long as it is fiction:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my FF post earlier.
Have a wonderful weekend!
I'm not a big fan of mysteries, but I do love sci-fi ;) I guess adult fiction would be where I got the most out of my usual genre...
ReplyDeleteMaeva
Murphy's Library
I'm not a huge fan of Sci fi either but I don't mind reading them once in a while. Thanks for stopping by! Old follower. :D
ReplyDeleteDaphne @ Reading Until Dawn
Although I'm a hardcore Y.A. reader, I do love reading some adult fiction every now and then :)
ReplyDeleteMy FF
~Caitlin :)
I use to mostly read adult fiction, but YA has been creeping in for me.
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by.
This is by far the best question I've come across in Feature & Follow!! :D

Addie @ READioactive Book Blog
I don't read much of mysteries and Sci-Fi either! But good to know you have your specific genres fixed and I like your answer. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my post.
Happy reading!
Sarika @ The Readdicts
Come to think of it, I've never voluntarily read adult fiction, and by that I mean all the adult fiction I read is basically for school, yes, quite sad but hey, I'm basking in all the Young Adult glory while I still can - not that I'll ever stop reading YA fiction keke.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, old follower :)
I enjoy your rambly answer :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! And Harry Potter rocks!!!
Old follower
I don't like sci-fi either especially if the story is kind of like Star Wars or Star Trek. I'm more into Paranormal.
ReplyDeleteThanks for 'hopping' by!
I think I'm one of the few people on earth who have yet to read Harry Potter. And I'm a 17 year old bookworm whose enjoys a good magic book. This is probably something I have to change...
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my FF!
Old(ish) follower as of last week XD
It's interesting you don't like sci-fi and mysteries! Did you ever try reading Across The Universe by Beth Revis? It's both! :)
ReplyDeleteOld follower hopping through!
My F&F
I love the YA genre too! And Harry Potter and Twilight were two series that ignited my love for reading!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog! Old Follower!
I know what you mean, that's similar to me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my FF post
Sabina @ Delirious About Books
I'm not a huge fan of nonfiction or sci-fi--although I did like the Maze Runner and I think that was labeled as sci-fi...
ReplyDeleteHey Alison, Happy Friday! Have a great bookish weekend :)
