Welcome to the Feature & Follow
Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.
The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!
How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!
What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.
Our Feature -Head Stuck in a Book
I only started blogging October of last year, I used to visit all these different blogs and one day I thought you know what, I love reading why don't I start a blog of my own.
2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?
I love the fact that there are so many people interested in reading that are also reading the same genre's as I do, I'm the only person who reads in my house so it's nice to be able to communicate with people that share the same passion for reading that I do.
3. What is your favorite book(s)?
For anyone that visits my site during Feature Follow Friday most of the questions are answered with using my favourite series Twilight - Stephenie Meyer, the reason I got into the paranormal genre was because of Twilight, I also love Harry Potter - J.K Rowling, The Mortal Instruments - Cassandra Clare, The Black Dagger Brotherhood - J.R Ward I could go on and on.
4. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
I think that there's a lot of things not just one, I love it when an author sends me a message asking me specifically whether I'd review a book for them, or people that want me to take part in blog tours it makes it even more special when it's a publisher asking you it makes me feel like I'm doing something right and I feel extremely grateful, when I started this blog I never expected it to go as well as it has especially since there are so many other blogs out there. And all the people you meet while blogging is fantastic, but mostly it's just people care enough to leave comments on your posts, I think it's the best decision I've ever made starting up this blog. Oh and one of the best things so far is being a feature on Feature Follow Friday!
Q: If you could "unread" a book, which one would it be? Is it because you want to start over and experience it again for the first time? Or because it was THAT bad?
Definitely Harry Potter. I would love to experience the magic for the first time. Especially Prisoner of Azkaban and Deathly Hallows. Sirius was a huge shock for me and the ending of the series was similarly surprising.
I'd like to unread Twilight. Not so much because I want to re-experience the wonder...although I do. Twilight was the first paranormal romance I'd ever read. Four years later, I've read tons of it. I wonder if I'd like Twilight as much if I was already a fan of better written series like Vampire Academy. Because as much as I love VA, it still doesn't reach the Twilight magic for me. Is that because Twilight was my first or because it's just perfect for me? I'm not sure.
I can't really think of any book that I hated so much that I want to "unread" it. The closest I can think of is A Wrinkle in Time. I read it at age 9, when I hated fantasy. I wasn't a fan of the book. I wish I could read it for the first time now to see if I like it better, because I'm now a huge fantasy reader. Although it's been so many years since I've read it, it would probably feel like a first read because I've forgotten so much!
So there's the solution - just wait twenty years and re-read a book. It'll be brand new!

Happy Follow Friday! Come back at midnight CST for the Facebook & Twitter hop!!
Soon, I WILL be reading Harry Potter for the first time LOL!
ReplyDeleteI said the exact same thing about Twilight. Somehow it was magical! Kill me now for admitting to that but I completely understand your choice.
ReplyDeleteHarry Potter doesn't even need to be said. lol.
Great post Alison! I also said the Harry Potter series! I would love to be able to experience the magic of reading it the first time again :)
ReplyDeleteI think the first paranormal romance book I ever read was House of Night and I was pretty enamored- so I do know what you mean with Twilight!
ReplyDeleteHarry Potter would be so fun to read again... as a child this time instead of as an adult!!

Hey Alison, stopping through with MY FF!
ReplyDeleteGood pick! I still haven't read HP *hangs head in shame* I made the mistake of watching the movies first and just don't have the drive to read the books! I know what you're saying about VA being better written and I just adored that series but you're right it doesn't hold the same magic despite the fact That Richelle's writing is leaps and bounds above Stephanie's. Twilight's such a mystery to me ;)
Happy Friday!
I keep thinking how I need to reread A Wrinkle in Time it would feel like the first time for me too. I read it so long ago. I agree with Harry Potter and Twilight. Twilight was kind of my first Vampire series I wasn't into them before that, although I've always loved fantasy.
ReplyDeleteHaven't read a Wrinkle in Time. Would definitely love to experience the magic of HP all over again. My favorite is definitely the Half-blood Prince! I don't know why I loved Twilight so much either!

I can't remember if I read a Wrinkle in Time lol. If goodreads existed back then, I would know. :)

ReplyDeleteI'd definitely love to reread Harry Potter again and be able to experience all its awesomeness with a clean slate!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my FF
That is so funny because I hated fantasy when I was really young too and now I can't get enough of it either. I would pick HP3 as my book to "un-read" because Scabbers and Sirius was a shock and it made me really think "Oh things are going to get crazy now!"
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!

Love your answers! I totally agree!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday Alison!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your answer! Yes Twilight definitely holds its own magic and still does. But I can handle it, I knew Twilight came to me at a very certain time which is why I think I went so head over heels about it.
I want to un-read the Fever series by KMM just because I want to read them again and I want to feel what I felt again when I read them. All the excitement, the pain and the swooning and the guessing about what Barrons is .. I want that again!
Nice one, I have my post up and question is answered :) FF Post
ReplyDeleteInteresting choices. A lot of people weren't happy with how Twilight series had ended, but I agree, I love the Vampire Academy series.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by,

It's a shame that you didn't enjoy A Wrinkle in Time.. I quite liked that book. I hope you enjoy it more if you decide to re-read it again! Nice choice with the Harry Potter series. :)
ReplyDeletehappy friday! old follower~

The first time I read Twilight I didn't care for it. At that time my only vampire experience had been with Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. So, sorry to Twilight fans, but there's really no comparison. None at all. Now I'm reading Twilight a second time, with a more open mind, and we'll see. I read book one of the Vampire Academy series and really hope to get to continue the series soon. It was well written and more edgy than Twilight.
ReplyDeleteGreat Choice I definitely would love that first experience again, I remember devouring each book faster than the last.
ReplyDeleteMy FF
I don't think I would love to do that for twilight, but for sure for the Harry Potter books, I would love to. great answer!

here is mine
Twilight is my first paranormal romance too. I would like to see how I will feel if I read that series now.
ReplyDeleteHi Alison, I think I am one of the few people who hasn't read Harry Potter. Twilight started my love of all things paranormal <3
ReplyDeleteSharon @ Obsession with Books
Are you ready for this? I've never read Harry Potter. *gasp* I know! It's terrible. I'm planning on reading them sometime in the near future.

Hi Alison! Stopping back by to answer your question. :) Here is the description for Slammed:
DeleteFollowing the unexpected death of her father, 18-year-old Layken is forced to be the rock for both her mother and younger brother. Outwardly, she appears resilient and tenacious, but inwardly, she's losing hope.
Enter Will Cooper: The attractive, 21-year-old new neighbor with an intriguing passion for slam poetry. Within days of their introduction, Will and Layken form an intense emotional connection, leaving Layken with a renewed sense of hope.
Not long after a heart-stopping first date, they are slammed to the core when a shocking revelation forces their new relationship to a sudden halt. Daily interactions become impossibly painful as they struggle to find a balance between the feelings that pull them together, and the force that keeps them apart.
I hope you'll check it out sometime - be sure to keep the tissues handy if you do. Thanks for visiting!
I haven't had a chance to read the Vampire Academy series, but they have been on my TBR list for quite some time now. I'm still half and half on the Twilight series, I like and dislike it for numerous reasons.

I loved A Wrinkle In Time! I read it when I was in elementary school and read the whole series in a span of a few days. I was hooked!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about Twilight. It's what really got me into reading again. (As much as I refuse to admit it around others...)
Happy Friday! :)
Love your answer!!! I totally agree. This is my first #FF and I'm happy to be apart of it :D
ReplyDeleteTwilight was also my first YA PNR and I wonder if I would like it as much now that I read so many great books.
ReplyDeleteI just reread Deathly Hallows a few days ago, and I still sobbed like a baby upon reading the chapter about Snape. Good to know that some things never change! ;)
ReplyDeleteHere's my FF. :)
Hi! This is my first time participating in the FF and I really like it. Great question! And I also have Harry Potter on my "unread" list :)
ReplyDeleteYou can find my FF here
Twilight is also the very first paranormal series I read! Vampire Academy is one of my all time favs! :) Hope you have a fab weekend...
ReplyDeleteAlexia - Here is My FF Post
Yeah, HP is something I'd love to experience 'anew' too... Perhaps once I get to read it to my kids, it would be different? More magical? Dunno :)
ReplyDeleteAnd as much as I don't think Twilight is the best book ever, I still wouldn't want to 'unread' it. It wasn't all that bad ;)
Here's my Friday Follow .
Oh My God! I love your background!
ReplyDeleteI chose Twilight too, but more so because I want it out of my head.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Friday Hops
Have a GREAT weekend!

I agree with what you said about Twilight. It was the first fantasy novel I read and I loved it but today if I were to read it again. I don't really know if I would still like it so much.

ReplyDeleteI recently read A Wrinkle in Time and wasn't as taken as I'd hoped to be, you can read my review here

I love "A Wrinkle in Time," tbqh the whole Time Quintet is on my top ten series of all time. I think I first read them when I was fourteen though. :)
ReplyDeleteHi. New follower and participant in the hop. I hope I'm doing all of this right. I think I'd love to re-expereince the Harry Potter series for the first time. It is one of the few book series I can read again and again. I always find something new each time through.
ReplyDeleteI completelyu agree with you about Twilight. This year, I'm participating in a Twilight Re Read Challenge to reassess my feelings about the series. After reading so much YA, will I still feel the same way? I don't know. I haven't read the series in years, so we shall see.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with you about Harry Potter, too!
Here's my FF: http://meganm922.blogspot.com/2012/06/feature-and-follow-fridayunread.html
Great choices! I know I read A Wrinkle In Time, but I don't remember it at all.
ReplyDeleteTwilight was magical for me to, I've tried to figure out why, and I just don't know. I've read it and reread it and it's my go to book when I just want to get lost.
I read Wrinkle in Time when I was a middle schooler I think and really loved it. I read all of those books, and it would be interesting to read them again now. I liked fantasy more then than I do now.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could unread Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and relive it with fresh eyes all over again. I LOVE that book.
ReplyDeleteI would love to unread Harry Potter so that I could reread it and experience all the magic again. It's magical every time, but nothing quite beats that first time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping in!
I totally agree about Harry Potter. It was the first series that I was completely immersed in. I didn't choose it, but I did think about it!
ReplyDeleteOld follower. :)

Nice pick. I haven't read Harry Potter only watched the first movie. I know its shameless but i will get on that.

I'm with you. I'd want to experience Harry Potter for the first time again!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday! Ah, to have the experience of HP all over again. That anticipation, the not knowing what's going to happen next. That'd be awesome if we could "unread" and then read again!!
ReplyDeleteI don't really reread anything but my favorite classics, but my 'unread' was one of your rereads. :( Don't hate me..lol it was Twilight..I could do with out it.
ReplyDeleteI love this Meme. Haven't done it in a few weeks cuz Fridays have been a bit crazy! I actually have never read Harry Potter. (Let the hate mail begin!) But I WILL be giving it a shot! Great post, great feature!
ReplyDeleteCan't believe you've met Julie Kagawa!! I'm totally jealous >.<
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about Twilight, I have a problem with it because of the craze...but I still like the Twilight as it used to be before stupid Kristen Stewart came along and messed it all up. But now that I'm older, I wonder if I'd feel different about it.
That's funny that you say that about Twilight! That was my fist paranormal read also and I often wonder if I would love it as much now.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!

Almost everyone I know had to read A Wrinkle in Time. It was a required reading for middle schoolers. Yet, somehow I was never forced to read it. I felt like I was missing out, so I bought to book and gave it a read while I was in college. While I don't wish I could unread it, I do wish that I had checked it out at the library instead of buying it. I really did not like that book.
ReplyDelete- Jackie
Harry Potter is a great choice. I haven't read both A Wrinkle in Time and Vampire Academy. My sister used to have an ecopy of Twilight in her computer but I never get the chance of reading it so I don't know how I really feel about the book. The movie is okay though, at least that what I thought.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! :)
I completely agree with HP. I can't believe I didn't think of that series myself. Especially Azkaban. That one was my favorite. Hope you have a great weekend!

Harry Potter, I didn't even think about these books. Good choice! Thanks for stopping by my blog.
ReplyDeleteI loved Twilight, but I wouldn't want to unread and then read it again now. The me 4 years ago (when I've read it) and the me now is really different. I like different books now. And I want to keep my good memories of the series.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stoping by, Ali! Have a great weekend! :)
Harry Potter is an obvious choice for me. I agree with the Twilight series thing. It was my first real paranormal read and I don't know if I'd like it now.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be awesome to read Harry Potter again for the first time too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my FF.
New follower! I love the blog and the FF. I would love to read the Fever series again as if they were new to me! I loved them that much.
