Welcome to Feature & Follow Friday (err Thursday) on Parajunkee.com
If you are new to the #FF fun, Feature & Follow Friday is a blog hop that expands your blog following by a joint effort between bloggers. Feature & Follow Friday is now hosted by TWO hosts, Rachel of Parajunkee and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!
*Thanks so much to Rachel for allowing me to be part of the Follow Friday fun. Parajunkee is one of the best blogs out there and FF is a highlight of the blogging community. The FF has been one of my favorite parts of my week for over a year and I'm so excited to help my fellow book bloggers get to know each other better.
How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you! Now to make this #FF interesting we do a FEATURE blogger.
If you are interested in becoming a Feature click on the link here for Follow Friday Feature or go to Parajunkee and click the drop down link above FEATURES > Feature & Follow Friday and get on the waiting list!
It is also required, that if you participate you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) and the two Feature blogs.
Our Feature - Once Upon A Time
Hey! I'm Hannah and I am addicted to buying books. I adore being able to open a book and lose myself in worlds filled with dragons and magic. Fantasy is my favourite genre though I’m willing to give almost anything a read, I just look for a good, well-written story. As well as fantasy I enjoy historical fiction, paranormal, chick lit, and contemporary fiction. I like anything that’s a little bit otherworldly and preferably quirky. My favourite books are 1984, The Book Thief, and A Game of Thrones, and I pretty much grew up on Harry Potter.
I love blogging because it gives me a chance to keep writing (I'd like to write my own novel 'one day') and communicate with people with the same interests as myself, and more times than not, I've found that these people are absolutely awesome.
Question of the Week: When you've read a book, what do you do with it? (Keep it, give it away, donate it, sell it, swap it..?)
Since most of the books I read come from the library, I return them. Of the books that I own, I usually keep them.
I'm often reluctant to buy books unless I'm sure I'll like them. So I will fall in love with a library book and then buy a copy to keep on hand.
Now for the Follow Fun!
RULES To join the fun and make new book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:
- (Required) Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Hosts {Parajunkee & Alison Can Read}
- (Required) Follow our Featured Bloggers - Once Upon A Time & Books Are Vital.
- Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
- Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say "hi" in your comments and that they are now following you.
- Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "HI"
- If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love...and the followers
- If you're new to the follow friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!
Happy Follow Friday! Follow it up with your twitter address if you want to get that one out!

It's not letting me sign up. :-(
ReplyDeleteI get most of my books from the library as well. Sometimes it's hard giving back one that I really liked. lol!
ReplyDeleteI buy books and also get them from the library. If I like the book from the library, then I will buy it.
ReplyDeleteNow that is self control! Our library is really small and not up to date, but I could practice this a little more where able.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, I wish I had your self control. I have the opposite problem, I just keep on buying books because I just like owning them. Not really good for my wallet! Oh hi, I'm a recent follower. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's what I do too, if I like a library book I have to have'em! ;)
ReplyDeleteCome see my Friday too! :D And have an awesome weekend!
I'm also very discerning when it comes to purchasing my books. I don't necessarily read a library copy first, but I make sure that I've read reviews, the blurb - of course! - and the first page before parting with any money. I also prefer to et my books the old fashioned way. From an actual bookshop! :)
ReplyDeleteI tend to be a book keeper. But I do giveaway and sell my books if I already have double copies of them.
ReplyDeleteI do that a lot when I get books from the library and end up buying them because I liked them so much!
ReplyDeleteAnna @ Literary Exploration
I've also borrowed a book, loved it and then bought my own copy. I did that for Mirror Image by Sandra Brown and the Dante Club by Matthew Pearl.

Hey, Alison, just stopping by to say hello. We're old followers. :)
ReplyDeleteHere's our Follow Friday post.
Maja @ The Nocturnal Library
I'm new to follow friday this week! It is such fun!

Oh, I so understand the being reluctant to buy... I used to be the same... I kind of don't know what happened >.<
ReplyDeleteI would borrow books from my library if my library weren't so ancient, haha.
ReplyDeleteOld follower:)
Hey Alison!
ReplyDeleteI often do the same, though my local library has few newer, fresh out of the press so to speak, titles that I'd like to read, and more like classics or titles of the last few years, you know? So nowadays I rarely get a book from there, I used to read library books a lot in high school though. When I found a book I really loved, I tried to get myself a copy of it too, just like you.
Most of the time I'll go with the ebook version, and if I love it, buy a paperback too.
Have a great weekend!
My #FF
I pretty much always keep my books! Can't bare to part with them!

I have been wanting to join the hop for some time now. I think I would be a secret hoarder if my local library wasn't so close to home. I am also an old follower!
ReplyDeleteI have a goal to actually visit the library in town here sometime in the new year. I really hope they have a great selection because if they do that would save me A LOT of money because right now I buy most of my books while borrowing a few from a friend.

Me Follow Friday
I'm trying very hard not to become a book hoarder, but I am one I must admit. So I have started to give away some of my books to make room for more books.

Livre De Amour-Books of Love
I'm a keeper, I can't bare to part with my books usually. Sometimes I'll run across one that just doesn't work for me, and that I'll usually try to donate or pass along to someone who might enjoy it more than I did:) Have a great weekend Alison!
ReplyDeleteI'm mostly a keeper...until I run out of room!! lol
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, your answer struck me as funny. "Since most of the books I read come from the library, I return them. Of the books that I own, I usually keep them." Lol. It's like you're saying, "Duh!" :)
ReplyDeleteI'm mostly a keeper, sometimes a donator.
I'm a keeper. I can't stand to get rid of my books.
ReplyDeleteOld follower. Happy Friday!

@ohmandee
I bought all my books so I've a lot of books, so I can't keep them all.
ReplyDeleteI'm a book hoarder. I just have to have all the books. One of my long running dilemmas is deciding who to leave my collection to when the piles fall over and kill me.
ReplyDeleteAaron (Dreaming About Other Worlds).
This is my first time at your hop and I am glad to have found it. I am a new follower. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way, most of my books come from the library, and I only buy books I'm sure I'll like...unless I find some used for extremely cheap, then I know I can donate them to the library if I don't want to keep them, but I haven't broken the bank doing it! Happy Friday Alison!
ReplyDeleteGreat post and I totally agree :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
Thank goodness for libraries! They and ebooks help save space for me as a book hoarder. Old follower.
