Feature & Follow Friday #57

Welcome to Feature & Follow Friday (err Thursday) on Parajunkee.com

If you are new to the #FF fun, Feature & Follow Friday is a blog hop that expands your blog following by a joint effort between bloggers. Feature & Follow Friday is now hosted by TWO hosts, Rachel of Parajunkee and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!

*Thanks so much to Rachel for allowing me to be part of the Follow Friday fun. Parajunkee is one of the best blogs out there and FF is a highlight of the blogging community. The FF has been one of my favorite parts of my week for over a year and I'm so excited to help my fellow book bloggers get to know each other better.

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you! Now to make this #FF interesting we do a FEATURE blogger. If you are interested in becoming a Feature click on the drop down link above FEATURES > Feature & Follow Friday and get on the waiting list! It is also required, that if you participate you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) and the two Feature blogs.

Our Feature - Amber @ Me My Shelf and I

Me, My Shelf and I

I am Amber of Me, My Shelf and I. Self Proclaimed cover snob, lover of all things pink and/or glittery. I will NOT share my coffee with you, but will share my wine ;0)

I started book blogging as a way to keep track of the 104 book challenge I joining at the beginning of 2011. When i realized people actually liked what I was writing I gave the blog a little face lift and a new name, hired a pal to help me and here I am today!

Q. Talk about the book that most changed or influenced your life (was it a book that turned you from an average to avid reader, did it help you deal with a particularly difficult situation, does it bring you comfort every time you read it?).

I have had several influential books at various points in my life. The first one was Mary Anne's Bad-Luck Mystery, the 17th Babysitter's Club book by Ann M. Martin. I read it in second grade and it transformed me from an okay reader into an obsessive, life-long book addict. The girls of the BSC were some of my best childhood friends.

The other highly influential books have been the Harry Potter series, Pride & Prejudice, and Twilight. And maybe a few others that I'll think of when I read other people's FF posts.

In light of today's question and the answers I've read on a lot of blogs, I think it's time to bring up one of my favorite posts again: I LOVE Twilight and I am NOT ASHAMED! Check it out and be a proud vampire lover.

Now for the Follow Fun!

RULES To join the fun and make new book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:

  1. (Required) Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Hosts {Parajunkee & Alison Can Read}
  2. (Required) Follow our Featured Bloggers - We Fancy Books & The Little Book Blog
  3. Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say "hi" in your comments and that they are now following you.
  5. Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "HI"
  6. If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love...and the followers
  7. If you're new to the follow friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!
Happy Follow Friday! Follow it up with your twitter address if you want to get that one out!

  4. Hi, Alison! :) Happy Follow Friday! The question for this week is awesome yet challenging -- just the way I like it!

There are always those books for people that get them into reading! The Twilight Saga was honestly the YA series that first turned me into a bookaholic. I'm glad it's on your list!

Here's my Follow Friday! And you can check out my 100 Followers Giveaway if you have the time! :)

  5. Hey Alison! (old follower!) =)

The Baby Sitter's Club also influenced my reading life greatly! Though I don't think I ever read Mary Ann's Bad Luck Mystery (there were so many, I don't think I ever read the whole series, though I did many of them ... I really want to read some of them now for nostalgia's sake!)

  8. Holy crap. The BSC books are like my holy grail. I have them all and I covered all of the covers with plastic film. I still read them from time to time. Especially Logan loves Mary Anne. I've always shipped them.

  27. i agree with you with the Harry Potter and Twilight answers...although for my answer I picked neither (go figure).

  45. Old follower stopping by. I devoured most all of the BSC books, too. I even read the "little sister" series about one of the girl's step-sisters! I guess I grew up a lot while reading that series, so I gotta share the love. : )

  46. Hi, Alison!!!! I've been a follower for a couple of weeks or so, and am hopping through.

I am SO happy to find another Twilight lover!!! Squeeeeee!!!! And even better, you are NOT ashamed to say that you love the books!! And heck, why should anybody be ashamed to "admit" that they love them? Why are there people who hate it as much as they do? I know that there's a great variety when it comes to literary tastes, but still...

The entire Twilight Saga is a lushly romantic, poignant tale that mesmerizes and enchants! I have read it twice, and the first volume, "Twilight", three times! I treasure these books!! In fact, pretty soon I'll be reading the Spanish translation of the first book. If I knew more languages, I'd read it in each one, too! Lol.

Come check out my post and see what I have to say about the wonderful story of Edward and Bella.

Have a GREAT weekend, fellow Twilight lover!! : )

    ReplyDelete
  47. Oh yes! The Babysitters Club! I read all of those books so many times. They were my favorite books when I was younger. Reading the title of your favorite one reminds me of the way the books used to say Logan talked with a Southern drawl and used to pronounce Mary Anne's name with that Southern accent. Which was totally normal for me, because I'm from Eastern NC and that's how we all talk around here.

Anyway, I'm rambling. You just took me way back in time and I'm so enjoying it. Thanks so much!

I should really have mentioned Harry Potter, shouldn't I? But then my FF would have been miles long! Harry Potter was from a different time in my life really, while I would definitely reread it and love it now, it was Twilight and moreso The Book Thief that dragged me out of my several year long reading slump.

    Once Upon A Time

  50. Awesome books! I'm in the minority that hasn't read Harry Potter, but I think that will change soon. :-))

  54. Loving all your choices...Twilight is what introduced me to paranormal, so I love it for that. P&P is a lifelong fav. And Harry Potter? Well, obviously, he's magical. :)

I think I read all of the Babysitter's Club books when I was a kid, and at the age of 9 or so I can recall ranting to my parents about the "meet the characters" chapter in each book and how redundant it was. I guess I've always disliked the info-dump!

    Happy (belated) FF!

  56. I remember reading Baby Sitter's Club back in the day too. Twilight was it for me though. I wish that I had jumped on the reading wagon with Harry Potter, but I apparently wasn't ready at that point to be an avid reader. Oh wells. Great answer!

I love Twilight too. Haters gonna hate! lol
