Questions of the Week:
Blog Hop: Do you read only one book at a time or several?
I usually have several books going at the same time. Sometimes as many as 4 books, which is what I have going right now. I'm reading Lillibet (a bio of Queen Elizabeth II) by Carroly Erickson. I just finished Mad Love by Suzanne Selfors and am starting Matched by Ally Condie. I'm also reading Running With Secrets by Stephanie Void on my e-reader. I'm also reading Vampire Knight vol. 11 by Matsuri Hino.
I don't have a method on what I read when. I pick up whichever book I'm in the mood for. Sometimes, I'll go weeks without reading one of my ongoing books and other times I'll read one chapter and then switch to a chapter of another book.
Follow Friday: How did you come up with your blog name?
Nothing really exciting. I wanted something that would be easy to remember yet still unique. Honestly, I picked Alison Can Read principally because it was one of the first things that came to my mind.
Checking in for the hop (: Wow thats a great bundle of books your reading, Why do you read four at a time? I think its awesome! I try to at least go for two or three.

I just bought Matched by Ally Condie! Let me know how it is! I have a few books to read before I can read it. (I have to read one book at a time- or it'll just drive me nuts. I have to know what happened before I can move on. (Imagine the agony I feel at cliffhangers!!!!)
ReplyDeleteI really love your blog. It's so bright, it makes me happy! <3
thanks for your support of my blog! It means a lot! :)

Hopping on by just because it is fun and to say a great big hello with virtual hugs! *hug*
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to read only one book at a time this year. It doesn't always stay that way but for the most part I do believe I'm doing good at keeping it to one or two.

Great books you're reading!
ReplyDeleteI really want to read Mad Love too!
Hey, is Vampire Knight the manga very different from the anime?
I'm about to start Vampire Knight Guilty so I wondered when I saw you were reading it.
Just stopping in from the hop.

My blog title came to me pretty fast, a GREAT read, with emphasis on the GREAT so people would know I'm talking about books that were super awesome!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Friday Hops
Have a GREAT weekend!

Jessica@a GREAT read
Hi! I like the name of your blog! It's unique and simple. ) Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday Alison! I picked my name because its what books do. They bite you enough that you have to talk about them. Or re-read it just cause you love it so much. And I do pick out several books to read for the week but I can't read more than one at a time. Have a great weekend :)
ReplyDeleteComing through on the blog hop.
ReplyDeleteI have no problem reading two books at a time though it does not happen often. I generally like to finish one and then start another.
I think your blog name is really cute! Four books at one time is really impressive! I would just confuse myself. lol!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
My Hop!
Hi Alison, thanks for stopping by. I really can't answer your question on a community for Kindle or Sony. I don't really know anything about those two e-readers. I do know on the nook board there are a few people on there that own the kindle or sony.
ReplyDeleteYour reading habits sound a lot like mine. :)
ReplyDeleteYour blog title suits you just fine, Alison. :) I wish I could read more than one novel at a time, but I'm afraid I'd get the plots mixed up. Though I will say, my Kobo makes it easy to just switch between ebooks I'm reading. ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy hopping and reading!
Hi, Alison, and thanks for stopping by Starting the Next Chapter. The book in question is for a class that does have a linguistic component. It is proving to be an interesting read.
ReplyDeleteJust hopping in to say hi. I rarely read more than one book at a time, but I do listen to a book too. Have a great weekend
ReplyDeleteHi Alison, hopping by to say hello. Have a great weekend!

Truly Bookish
Only one book at a time for me , stop and see mine.
ReplyDeleteFour is a good, manageable number. I started Vampire Knight years ago, but never got very far. My manga reading has been on hold for two years now. Have to say I much prefer anime. Are you on the MyAnimeList website?
ReplyDeleteFour books just amazes me! I've only ever read two at a time and I do that very rarely. I wish I could read more than one book, normally, but I think I'm too OCD.
ReplyDeleteOld follower hopping on by!
ReplyDeleteOh, I was just reading four books in one go too: I love having the variety!
And I love your name!
Have a good weekend!
Wow! You can read 4 books at once. That's great. I would get totally lost in what I was reading. I hope you have a great weekend :)
ReplyDeleteI also picked something that popped into my head.
ReplyDeleteHappy Hop
Happy Friday, Alison!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I picked my blog name because I wanted to make sure nobody else could have it haha plus, it's just a reflection of who I am.
As for the book question...girl, I'm a one book at a time person haha more than one and my head will implode ;)
Hi Alison! Your blog design and colors are gorgeous :) I can tell we both like Asia :D
ReplyDeleteI'm your newest follower!
And to be honest, I admire you, being able to read few books at the same time! I could, too, I guess.. But I don't like mixing it up, especially since I read many different genres and reading about XIX century Japan wouldn't quite click with zombies or vampires :P (or would it? hey, that might be an idea for a book kkkk~^^)
Anyhoo, let's stay connected!

Thanks for stopping by! I LOVED the babysitter's club - did you also read Sweet Valley Twins?
ReplyDeleteI too am obsessed with Twilight, although I'm Team Jacob! You'll have to vote on my twilight poll lol:
Edward, Jacob, or Hate Twilight?
Hi, Alison! Thanks for stopping by the blog! My original blog name did have a few votes, so I was happy that it wasn't horrible lol.

Hey Alison! Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteLucky you for being able to read multiple books at once :P
Hi, Alison! Hopping back through the rabbit hole, lol. You're blog is just as cute as you seem to be. <3. Think I'm gonna enjoy following you, totally.
ReplyDeleteBut, *scratches head* don't really see how you can read that many books at once. I'd totally get lost, lol.
Hopping by and returning the favor. I would get so distracted if I tried to read that many books at one time! LOL
ReplyDeleteReading Lark's Hop
Hi Alison! Thanks for stopping by the blog! I'm an old follower from the hop and always enjoy coming by to visit.
ReplyDeleteI know this might sound a little tacky on my part but I am here to ask my fellow book lovers to stop in at the blog and help support a debut author if you are so inclined. He is giving away his two releases to a commenter this weekend. unfortunately since he is just starting out he has very few followers on his Fb and is just learning the in's and out's of what a blog tour is. Thanks! :-)
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I can only read one book at a time, plus I listen to an audio too.
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing as well I'll be reading one or two books, and lose interest after a few chapters and go to another. Then I'll go back to the other book about a month or so later.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend!
Thanks for stopping by Soooz Says Stuff. I appreciate it. I am now following your blog, I like the feel of it, friendly yet very professional. Well done. I look forward to stopping by regularly.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy Matched, I did, and am looking forward to the sequel.
Hi Alison,
ReplyDeleteI have no idea how you manage to keep so many books going at once, It would drive me nuts LOL
Thanks for stopping by Book'd Out earlier. Enjoy your weekend!

I guess as long as your way works for you, it doesn't matter how many books you choose to juggle :)
ReplyDeleteHere's my Book Blogger Hop: 3/18-3/21 post!
I can only manage two books at a time. I'm sure I'd get pretty confused with four unless of course they were all different genres. I don't have enough time to put enough effort into four either. I need to leave myself some writing time as well :)
ReplyDeletehi,
ReplyDeletethnx for hopping by my blog
Returning the hopping ;)
Have a wonderfull weekend!

4 books is a LOT. How do you do it?? Can't believe I STILL haven't read Matched... I hope you're loving it!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog Alison. I really love hopping because I find really great blogs I might not have otherwise. New follower. Thanks for stopping by yesterday.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend! I'm finding more today that read several at a time. Yesterday I seemed to be the odd one who did. It all depends on the subject for me.
ReplyDeleteWow - 4 books! Matched is great - hope you enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend :)
Happy hop weekend! I wish I could read more than one book. Wow, 4 books though would not work for me. Enjoy your reading!! Sounds like some great reads. Have a great weekend.....
ReplyDeleteHopping on through, I enjoyed your review of Jekel loves Hyde and saw you were looking forward to Matched - I really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteHopped by today.

I've enjoyed reading how everyone picked their blog names. It seems that just a little thinking, can provide a name that seems to end up suiting us perfectly! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI might have to give reading more than one book at a time a try! Great answer! Thanks for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteSomer @ A Bird's Eye Review
I loved Matched, hope you enjoy it as well. I checked out Mad Love from the library, but ran out of time and had to return it. Oh well! I'm sure I'll get back to it at some point.
ReplyDeleteHow are you liking Matched? I enjoyed it! Thanks for stopping by-I've been a follower of yours for awhile, love it!
ReplyDeletehave a great weekend, alison!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a good list! My goal is to read Matched this week, as it is Spring Break and I might actually have time :) Thank for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great week, and I'll be interested to see how you like Matched.
Just hopping by, Alison! Hope you have a wonderful weekend....
ReplyDeleteDepends on what I have going but its at least 2, one reading for review and one for personal read.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog
As someone who left a comment on my blog mentioned, sometimes reading several books at the same time is easier if they're all in vastly different genres. Your list is some evidence for that theory. Hope you enjoy them all!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog, I'm a new follower now and really like your blog =o) Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely comment :).
ReplyDeleteI like your blog name, it's quite funny :).
Thanks for stopping by Proud Book Nerd! I'm following you now, too. You have a beautiful blog!

Hello and thank you for the lovely comment you left on my blog Hands and Home! Hmm.. my favourite Amish series would probably be Abrams' Daughters by Beverly Lewis. I am loving your blog and am a new follower!

Just hopping by. I'm just like you--I can read several books at a time without a problem!
ReplyDeleteAs far as choosing a blog name--simple is good!
Happy Hop!
I'm the same way. I'm always reading more than one book at a time. I hope you're enjoying Fruits Basket. I really liked that series, especially toward the end.
ReplyDeleteHappy Hop! I'm a new follower & I love your blog! :)

Wow, you were so quick in naming your blog. My blog name was the last thing that came to my mind, after trying several unusual names.
ReplyDeleteHi! Coming through with the blog hop, albeit very late. Hope you had a wonderful weekend of reading multiple books (me too!).
ReplyDeleteGabrielle Bisset
Congratulations on your new domain space!!! Hopefully the transition wasn’t too painful. I also love to juggle multiple books! Have a great weekend.

ReplyDeleteA website where you can keep track of what Japanese anime shows you're watching, and manga, manhwa you're reading. It's pretty neat.
